Healthcare workers face a wide range of hazards at work which includes sharps injuries, harmful exposures to chemicals and hazardous drugs, back injuries, fatigue, violence, and stress. Although it is possible to prevent or reduce healthcare worker exposure to these hazards, healthcare workers continue to experience injuries and illnesses in the workplace. Exposure to the hazards occurs not only in the typical healthcare set up but also outside when the healthcare workers are mobilised to provide medical emergency response or support.


At the end of the Technical Update participants will be able to:

  • Describe preventive measures for musculoskeletal disorders in healthcare
  • Discuss the prevention of fatigue among healthcare workers
  • Explain the steps in protecting healthcare workers during major incidents
  • Discuss the management of healthcare professionals with psychological problems and disorders

Who should attend the course?

Occupational Health Physicians, Occupational Health Doctors, Medical Specialists, Medical Practitioners, Occupational Health Nurses, Assistant Medical Officers, Safety and Health Officers and Assistant Environmental Health Officers.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points

  • CPD points will be offered for eligible doctors to obtain MMC and NSR CPD points. CEP points will
    be offered for eligible competent persons.
