Vision and Mission


AOEM, the professional body of occupational health specialists in Malaysia is dedicated to promote optimal health and safety of workers, workplaces and environments by:

  • Advancing the state of the art and science of occupational and environmental medicine
  • Providing training and education in occupational and environmental medicine
  • Providing and advancing research in occupational and environmental medicine
  • Publishing journal, newsletter, books and other publications related to occupational and environmental medicine
  • Affiliating with institutions of higher learning, academies, organisations and bodies subscribing to similar objectives
  • Recognising medical practitioners who excel or take leadership roles in the practice of occupational and environmental medicine
  • Providing, endowing or supporting scholarships, lectureships, readerships and professorships
  • Giving, granting, issuing or bestowing on medical practitioners, certificates, other tokens and distinctions in recognition of proficiency or attainment in occupational and environmental medicine practice and subjects that are cognate. Such tokens or distinctions may be awarded upon an assessment examination or a thesis or undertaking an honours course
  • Constructing, building or acquiring by purchase, or hire, lease, grant, sell or mortgage any movable or immovable properties in furtherance of its objects of the Academy and receive, borrow or invest money for any of the objects of the Academy.
